Family Ties, Chapter 7: Family Gossip
There were more people in the house than the Sakakis could keep track of, and there certainly wasn’t enough room at the table for everyone. Yoko’s siblings introduced Yusho and the boys to their spouses, since Yoko remembered them from before she’d been kicked out. There was Auntie Asuka’s husband Uncle Takeshi, Auntie Ren’s husband Uncle Hiroshi, Auntie Fumiko’s husband Uncle Ryou, Auntie Kaede’s husband Uncle Akira, Uncle Ichiro’s wife Auntie Sakura, Uncle Toshiro’s wife Auntie Amaya, and Uncle Jun’s wife Auntie Aiko. Yoko blinked in surprise when she saw Auntie Aiko.
“You remarried?” she asked her brother in confusion. Uncle Jun nodded and said, “Yeah, turns out Kagura had a bit of a gambling problem. I only found out when the car broke down and I went to take money out of our joint savings to pay for repairs only to find that we were completely broke. And since most of those savings were mine, I got pretty upset, we had a fight, and we ended up divorcing about seven years ago. Aiko and I met shortly after the divorce, and we really hit it off and started dating about five years ago, and we actually just got married three months ago. She’s been really great!”
“Well, I’m glad you found someone,” Yoko said. “If I’m being honest, I never really liked Kagura. She seemed too much like a gold digger to me.”
Her sons listened to the conversation in interest while they ate their breakfast. They were all very hungry, and the farm-fresh home-cooked meal was very good and very big. Grandma kept their plates piled high with food. It was clear where Yoko had gotten her love for cooking.
“Are you alright, dear?” Grandma asked Yugo, noticing the tears streaming down his face. Before Yugo could speak, Yuri piped up. “Don’t worry, Grandmother! Yugo has a habit of crying when he tastes really good food. He cries all the time when he eats the food Mother makes us!”
“Mhm!” Yugo nodded in agreement, sniffling a little. “’S so good!”
The family melted at the explanation of Yugo’s reaction. Well, everyone except for Uncle Haru, who was watching in disgust as Yuya scarfed down his food. “Well, that one could stand to learn some table manners…” he muttered.
Grandma immediately pulled the hand towel off her apron and began slapping Uncle Haru with it. “Oh, like you were any better when you were his age?!” she shrieked. “Your manners were MUCH worse! In fact, they’re still pretty awful! Leave the little one alone! Go do something useful, like look for a job so that you can move out of the basement!”
“Why exactly does he live in the basement?” Yuri asked, mildly interested. Grandpa ruffled his cabbage hair and said, “Because his ex-fiance owned the house they were living in and she kicked him out after they broke up, and he couldn’t afford a place of his own because he’d been fired and never saved his own money. So we agreed to let him move back in with us until he got a new job and was able to afford his own place. That was ten years ago…”
“Ten years ago?!” Yuto stared in shock. “And he still doesn’t have a job? Does he at least help out around the house?!”
“No, he does absolutely nothing,” Uncle Ichiro said, glaring at Uncle Haru in disgust. “And Mom and Dad don’t want to just kick him out because they don’t want to do something they’ll regret again, like how they did with Yoko…”
Yoko hummed and looked at Uncle Haru, then at Yusho. “Yusho, come with me outside. I want to talk to you alone for a moment.”
“Oh, sure,” Yusho said, following his wife outside. The extended family all looked worried, and Cousin Miki murmured, “Oh no… Is she mad?”
“Nah, she’s not mad,” Yuya reassured her. “Trust me, I’ve seen her mad plenty of times. She’s probably just gone to talk to Dad about doing something to help. She likes taking care of people. And animals too. We got a whole bunch of pets at home cuz Mom and I keep finding strays and we can’t turn our backs on the poor things. I just hope she’s not talking to Dad about possibly inviting Mean Old Uncle into our home so that you guys don’t have to deal with him.”
Auntie Fumiko chuckled, “I doubt she would. Yoko and Haru never really got along very well, even though they’re twins…”
“Wait… Twins?!” Yugo asked, looking up in surprise. “I thought Mean Old Uncle was older? Like, he looks like he’s at least forty!”
“Stop calling me Mean Old Uncle!” Uncle Haru said in annoyance. Yuri snickered and said, “Stop being mean and maybe we’ll stop calling you that!”
“Haru’s older than Yoko by twenty-five minutes,” Auntie Fumiko replied. “They actually do have different birthdays though. Haru was born at 11:49 PM on April 30th, and Yoko was born at 12:14 AM on May 1st.”
“Oh wow!” Yuri was mildly impressed. “Reminds me of a book I read a few years ago, about twins who were born like that, one before midnight and one after midnight. They had these supernatural powers where the one born before midnight had dreams of the past and the one born after midnight had dreams of the future.”
Uncle Ichiro chuckled. “Well, Haru and Yoko never got those powers as far as we know, but they definitely had a lot of sibling rivalry growing up. We’ve found out over the recent years that a lot of the things that Yoko got into trouble for were actually Haru’s fault, and we now suspect that he knew that she never did any of the things we thought she did with her motorcycle gang…”
“What’s wrong with being in a motorcycle gang?” Yugo asked, frowning. “Not all of them are bad. A lot of them just like motorcycles and hanging out with people who share their interests!”
“Yes, we realize that,” Grandpa sighed, “it’s just, well… back then there was a string of crimes committed by a motorcycle gang in the area, and after some time, we were informed that Yoko was involved. We got angry and kicked her out, because we didn’t want a criminal in our family. Then, a few weeks later, we found out that the motorcycle gang that had been committing those crimes was a completely different one, and that there was more than enough evidence to prove that Yoko wasn’t involved at all. We felt really awful about kicking her out over hearsay and not even trying to find any evidence that she really was involved. But we couldn’t find her anywhere. We tried talking to some of her friends, but they just said she’d left town and they wouldn’t tell us where she went because she told them not to.”
“So that’s why you kicked me out?” Yoko’s voice startled everyone. They hadn’t noticed her or Yusho come back. “You didn’t tell me about those accusations! You just said that you didn’t want a delinquent biker in the family! That’s what you meant by delinquent?”
The extended family looked ashamed as Grandma and Grandpa nodded. “We’re so sorry, Yoko. We should’ve made sure the accusations were actually true before believing them.”
Yoko sighed. “Well, at least you apologized…” she mumbled. “Anyways, Yusho and I talked, and we’re willing to pay for an apartment for Haru to live in. We’ll pay for one year’s worth of rent, during which time Haru will be able to focus on looking for a job. After the year is up, he’ll be responsible for paying for everything on his own. A year should be more than enough time for him to find a job.”
The extended family was surprised, and Grandma took Yoko’s hands. “Are you sure about this? You really don’t have to. We can’t expect you to do something like this, especially so soon!”
“Ten years living with you and he still hasn’t found a job?” Yoko pointed out. “Sounds like he’s not even trying. It wouldn’t even surprise me if he’s not. This way, he’ll have to get a job and learn to stand on his own two feet. He can’t keep expecting everything to just be handed to him all his life.”
Her sons grinned, realizing their mother’s thought process. It was clear that Grandma and Grandpa didn’t want Mean Old Uncle to stay in their house any longer than necessary, but they wouldn’t kick him out of the house due to the guilt from kicking Yoko out. And they could tell that the rest of the extended family didn’t like him either. If he didn’t find a job within the year, the extended family was unlikely to let him move in with them. He would have to either learn to rely on himself and become independent, or he would become homeless.

my swd tag was missing some stuff 😱
first one is, Ryo’s route’s ending where “a mysterious man with a burned face” was seen in the last chapter. Second... well, just some colleagues being dragged into having fun against their will like usual, haha!

Shall We Date?: Lost Island - He Proposes
Ryo Tsuzaki
He’d known for a while that he wanted to marry you, he wanted to see a ring of his choosing resting on your finger, he wanted to scream to the world. He waited for you though because there was always something else going on, something that meant that he didn’t have time to choose a ring or to make everything perfect enough for you.
Ryo knew that he wouldn’t find another time to do it if he didn’t do it now, and storming into the shop, he forced himself to pick out the perfect ring before making his way towards your work, he couldn’t wait any longer, he couldn’t even wait until the evening, he knew if he even tried he might loose his nerve, he desperately wanted to ask you now, he wanted for you to say yes.
“(Y/N)” He called out breathless from all of the running,
“I need to ask you something” He stated gazing up at you, clinging to the ring box that rested in his hand.
“Yeah? What is it?” You asked, taking in his dishevelled and breathless form as he combed a hand through his hair. Ryo closed his eyes for a moment, feeling the eyes of your colleagues on him but in that moment he didn’t care, he simply dropped down onto one knee. He heard a couple of them laugh, but he just gazed over you, you had his complete and utter attention.
“I have loved you ever since I met you” Ryo grinned, and he could see the tears building in your eyes threatening to break their banks,
“You’re more than just the love of my life. You’re my best friend. My everything, I love you (Y/N), so marry me?” You stared at him, everything he had said took more than a moment to hit you, and rather than answering him, you threw your arms around his neck, the both of you collapsed onto the ground, lips against his in a long kiss.
You couldn’t hear anything that your colleague said, you were spread out onto of your finance as he slid the ring onto your finger.
You only noticed him.
Ren Nishimura
For a while now it felt as though Ren had been avoiding you, and by avoiding you that means everything from avoiding speaking to you, to avoiding your places, but you loved him more than anything and you didn’t understand why he was acting like this with you.
Little did you know it was the nerves building up.
He wanted nothing more than to ask for you to marry him, and then to have you say yes, he had thought about it all, and planned everything out. He knew how he wanted to ask you and when he wanted to ask you, or at least he thought he did, everything about it somehow seemed fake as well, he wanted it to be pure as he told you just how mad he is about you.
You were plodding up to your shared bedroom, your eyes becoming heavy, again you didn’t think that Ren would be there he hadn’t been there for a good few weeks now, it made you angry, you just wanted to cuddle up in his arms, and have him hold you close. You were completely and absolutely in love with him and all you wanted is for him to be there with you at night. Entering your bedroom you saw Ren seated on your bed, his head in his hands, it was an unusual sight and you closed the door with a soft slam, and watched as he rapidly stood up in front of you.
“(Y/N), I can explain everything to you” He called out to you with a soft smile gracing his lips, you were a little hesitant to approach him, after he had been avoiding you, you were almost scared that he might run away from you, especially since he looked as though he was a deer caught in headlights.
Ren, moving in front of you, moved onto one knee,
“(Y/N), you are the light of my life, the one I’ve been searching for, I’m sorry, I’m sorry I’ve been avoiding you, I love you, you’re everything I could ever want, so I want to ask you to marry me?”
You stood there for a second, basking in the feeling, your heart pounding as you looked down at him, the nerves shining through in his eyes, and you dove on him, he fell to the floor as you began crying into his shoulder, just repeating the word yes, his arms tangled around your back, holding you close.
Lionel Saito
Lionel had the ring for over a month, and he still hadn’t managed to gain the balls to pop the question to you. He was sitting in a church, he arms tangled around your waist with the wedding ring resting in the pocket of his jacket, he’d been dragged by you to a friends christening but as he sat there next to you all he could think about was you walking down the aisle towards him, saying ‘I do’, and placing a kiss on his lips.
You were his everything.
Lionel had the ring forever, but it was only in the last month or so he knew that wanted to ask you, he wanted for you to be his happy ending, he didn’t think that you would say no, but it was getting more and more difficult to find the right moment.
“You look a little bit distracted” You whispered as the christening continued, the both of you were sitting quietly in the back and you took a hold of his hand tightly, smiling at him softly,
“You okay?” You asked him softly, taking in the worry and the panic laying on his face.
“I’m fine” He nodded towards you, and looked back towards the ceremony, so you smiled at him, taking his hand and leading him out the stands and to the entry way to the church, wanting some privacy.
You didn’t believe him at all, letting him know you were there for him, you cupped his cheek, bringing your lips towards his. It was a short, sweet and simple peck on the lips that brought a smile to your cheeks, but Lionel knew immediately that it was the right moment to ask you. You were both surrounded by friends and family, you were happy, but times like these, moments where his heart pounded and his brain turned to mush was difficult.
He wanted to do it right now.
Without another word he reached into his pocket, removing the ring box from his pocket, he opened the box, taking the ring, he lifted your hand without a word, slipping the ring onto your finger, you watched him intel, your heart racing. He gulped, raising a hand and cupping your cheek, brushing his thumb against the flushed red skin.
“Be my wife, I want to marry you” He stated, you felt your heart pounding in your ears, cheeks flushing even brighter at his words, before a smile worked its way onto your face,
“Yes, a thousand times yes!” You cried out, beaming as you tangled your arms around his neck.
You loved Lionel with all of your heart, soon enough, he would be your husband.
Ichiro Sakaki
He was searching through an old jewellery box when he came across it, his grandmothers ring resting at the bottom, it was given to him by her to someday give to someone he wanted to marry, and he’d seen how some marriages would go down, the divorces, the fighting, the cheating, and yet, he couldn’t see it ending like that with you, he was no longer skeptical about happy marriages, because there was no need to be.
After finding the ring after it had been pushed to the back of his mind for so long, Ichiro just couldn’t stop thinking about you. Everytime that Ichiro looked at you, he thought about marrying you, about you walking towards him in a white dress, trying to hold back the tears, arguing over the guest lists and everything in-between. He was going to ask you to marry him tomorrow, that was that.
He wanted to be your husband.
One of your colleagues had brough their newborn into the office and you were currently holding onto them, rocking the child in your arms and smiling down at them when Ichiro entered the office, he halted for a brief moment taking in the sight in front of him,
“They’re asleep” You whispered to him with a soft smile gracing your lips, your colleagues were watching the two of you with weary eyes but you simply smiled at the man in front of you as he approached you falling onto one knee. You thought nothing of it, figuring that he was tying his shoelaces or picking something up that he had dropped, but a sudden flash of golden caused you to watch him cautiously, resting in his hand was a shimmering golden engagement ring.
“If this world has taught me anything” He stated quietly with a small smile on his lips,
“It’s that you need to do things while you still can. You have to tell people that you love them every chance that you get. I love you (Y/N) (L/N), I want to marry you, if you want to be my wife, I  really love you and want you to stay with me forever, just marry me?”
“Yes!” you shouted out, waking the baby in your arms as tears gathered in your eyes, the baby in your arms being gathered by the mother and you found yourself jumping onto Ichiro, tangling your arms around him, clinging to him, as he slipped the ring on your finger.
Shota Todomi
After everything that had happened between the two of you, the things that had pushed you together Shota knew that he wanted to be with you, he wanted to settle down with you.
He desperately wanted to ask you to marry him.
And, he struggled like hell to find a ring that was perfect enough for you, he didn’t want to cheap out, he wanted to pick something that was perfect for you, something that would perfectly match you.
He found himself more than a little nervous as he stood in the store, overwhelmed by the ring choice that lay in front of him, he didn’t know what to say anymore, it was causing him even more stress.
“I just need the right ring” He muttered, gazing down at the shimmering rings in front of him, he could see the curious glances he was getting from sales associates, he’d already told them he didn’t need their help he knew exactly what he was looking for, something that would shine with you. He almost found himself wanting to just pick a random ring and propose the moment that he sees you, he was almost one hundred perfect sure you’d say yes, but in the same breath he wanted it to mean something to you, he didn’t want it to just be a piece of jewellery to you.
Out of the corner of his eye, a ring finally caught a hold of his gaze, and he found himself drawn to it, it wasn’t the biggest or the shiniest one in the cabinet, but it was perfect, perfect for you, and finally one of the sales associates dared to approach him again, taking note of the wide grin that had spread across Shota’s face,
“Found your ring?” They asked from in front of him, and he pointed down at the band in the glass with a smile, and nodded.
You were in the office when Shota arrived, sitting and working on something, not that he had any idea what, but he quickly asked a couple of the others in the office if they would mind leaving, telling one why, he wasn’t met with smiles he was met with shrugs as they walked out, saying something about grabbing coffees. It didn’t ruin Shota’s mood though, nothing could at this moment in time he felt like he was flying as he approached you from behind tangling his arms around your waist from behind and placing a soft kiss on your cheek. You felt s smile creep onto your lips as you turned your head, just as your boyfriend’s lips travelled up and down your neck, until he reached your ear again,
“Will you marry me?” He whispered in your ear, you felt your breath catch and your heart stop at his question.
Blinking rapidly, your eyes widened when Shota held out an engagement ring, still standing behind you, but showing the shimmering ring in the little black box. You almost wanted to scream out an answer as he tightened his grip on your waist, as you tried to speak you felt yourself turning in his arms, and his lips crashing against your own for a moment you were caught up, until you pulled away, staring into his eyes you could see he was waiting for you to respond,
“Nothing else would make me happier” You whispered to him breathlessly, placing a brief peck on his lips. Shota grinned broadly, releasing his hold on you before lifting up your hand, slipping the ring onto your finger.
He was perfectly calm, it was as if he had known that he was going to marry you since the moment he met you. You gazed up, meeting his stare, you could see it in his eyes, and he didn’t doubt it at all, you knew he felt the same way.
Kaes
As Kaes’s fingers brushed against your bare hip, he couldn’t help but fear that if he got the balls to ask you, you’d just say no to him. He’ been thinking about asking you to marry him for a very long time. Knowing the kinds of people in the world, and he knew it would only be a matter of time before things happened again, and when anything happened to you again or went wrong in your life again, he wanted to be your husband, be there with you every single step of the way. Kaes went in search of a ring especially for you, and he found something that was perfect for you.
His insecurities were getting a hold of him all over again. You two argued just as much as ever, he looked at other couples and wondered how they’d manage it, how they would do it every single day. He loved you, he never wanted to lose you.
Kaes sat up, unwrapping his arms from your form, and you groaned as you felt his warmth leave you, slowly beginning to wake up, sitting up just as Kaes was pulling on his pants. Your eyes scanned the scars that were littered across his skin, you got up from the bed, grabbing his shirt from the floor and began to pull it on,
“(Y/N)?” Kaes stopped you, walking around the bed so that he was standing directly in front of you,
“Yes?” You asked raising an eyebrow as Kaes opened his mouth but no words slipped past his lips which genuinely shocked you to the very core. Kaes was a man of action. You moved standing up, cupping his cheeks,
“Kaes whatever it is you want to tell me, tell me” You stated simply, buttoning up the shirt as you stood in front of him smiling softly.
“You’re marrying me” Kaes blurted out, no more no less, his gaze moving from you to the wall of his bedroom.
You stared at him in utter shock for a moment, your cheeks flushing red as you gazed over him,
“Oh, I am, am I?” You asked him with a chuckle, Kaes went a bright red before he leaned forward, taking a ring from the top pocket of the shirt that you were wearing. Your eyes widened, you hadn’t thought that he was dead serious, you hadn’t expected him to be planning it.
“How long have you had that?” You whispered the shock still lining your voice as you stared over him,
“Two or three days. Didn’t know how to ask you”
“So you tell me?”
“Is that a no?” He asked, and you rolled your eyes, leaning towards him, and standing on your tip toes as you placed a gentle peck against his lips,
“I’ll marry you” His eyes widened,
“Don’t look so damn surprised Kaes” You laughed out, he smirked at you, grabbing onto your hand, as he slipped the ring onto your finger, he placed a kiss against the ring on your finger gazing up at you, you wrapped your arms around his shoulders.
Nothing would make you happier than calling Kaes your husband.

Lost Island: Fuck, Marry, Kill
@puremisschief requested: 1, for the Lost Island Boys
Fuck: Lionel Saito
Marry: Ichiro Sakaki
Kill: Ren Nishimura.
Fuck - Like goddamn have y’all seen this dude? He seems like he’d be a really damned great lover, like super giving too.
Marry - As much as I love Lionel, I would rather marry Ichiro. He’s a lot kinder, and gentler. Lionel’s personality, as much as I hate to admit, would get very grating after a long period of time.
Kill - Dude is supposed to be tsundere, I guess? But he just comes off across as a goddamn jackass and never really redeems himself.

Family Ties, Chapter 6: Relatives
The Yuus were now very curious about their mother’s family. Their grandparents seemed genuinely remorseful for kicking her out of the house and disowning her, and the rest of the people, minus Haru, also seemed to feel bad as well. The boys looked at them in interest, something that didn’t go unnoticed by them.
One of the older ladies smiled at the Sakakis. “We should introduce ourselves, huh? I’m your Auntie Fumiko, and that’s Auntie Asuka, Auntie Ren, Auntie Kaede, Uncle Jun, Uncle Toshiro, and Uncle Ichiro. We’re your mother’s brothers and sisters. Our husbands and wives are inside making sure everything’s ready for your visit. And you’ve already met Uncle Haru, our annoying brother. Yoko’s the youngest of us nine.”
Yugo made a disgusted face at the mention of the mean uncle, and Yuri gave a cruel grin. Uncle Haru seemed taken aback by their reactions and started to speak, but Grandma gave him a withering look that made him fall silent.
“So… we have cousins, right?” Yuya asked. Auntie Ren smiled and said, “Yep! Quite a few, actually. They’re all adults now, so you four are the babies of the family! They’re all coming to meet you. My twin daughters, your cousins Miki and Niko, are already here, and so are cousins Hina, Seiichi, and Tadashi. Everyone else is on their way, and should be here by sundown.”
“How many cousins do we have?” Yuto asked. The aunts and uncles paused, clearly counting. After a moment, Uncle Ichiro said, “Well… there’s Ren’s twins, Kaede’s three, Asuka’s four, Fumiko’s eight, Toshiro’s seven, Jun’s five, and my nine, so that’s…”
“We have THIRTY-EIGHT cousins?!” Yuri yelped in shock. Yuya, Yugo, and Yuto stared at their aunts and uncles in disbelief with agape mouths. After a moment of trying to count, Uncle Ichiro pulled out his phone and opened the calculator. A moment of calculating later he said, “Yep! Thirty-eight cousins! You’re pretty good with quick math, aren’t you…?”
“That’s Yuri,” Yoko said. “The one with blue and yellow hair is Yugo, the one with purple and black hair is Yuto, and the one with red and green hair is Yuya.”
“It’s very nice to meet you four!” Auntie Asuka said, smiling warmly at the boys. “We were hoping you’d come for a visit. We understand that you might not have wanted to meet us, but we’re really happy that you decided to give us a chance. Mom and Dad have really missed having grandbabies to spoil, and I know my youngest daughter, Mayumi, has really wanted a younger cousin to spoil. She’s been so tired of being the youngest grandchild for a long time!”
They’d reached the main house by now, and walked inside together. There was a bustling of activity in the house which caught the boys by surprise. Before any of them could react, there was a squeal and they were suddenly tackle-hugged. It took them a moment to process what was happening.
“Oh my gosh! Hi! I’m so excited that you’re here!” the hugger squealed. The aunts, uncles, and grandparents all chuckled, and an amused voice behind the hugger said, “Easy, Miki! You don’t wanna scare them away, do you? I mean, we know you’re a huge fan of Yuya’s dueling style, but still!”
“Right! Sorry!” the hugger said, releasing the boys and stepping back. The boys blinked, looking up at her bright, cheery smile. “I’m just so excited! I still can’t believe you four are our cousins! I’ve been watching videos of Yuya’s duels online since his debut, and I was actually inspired to learn how to duel because of them!”
“Miki’s actually the one that found out that you four are Yoko’s children, and about your father,” Auntie Ren said. “Honestly if she didn’t follow Yuya’s social media, we might not have learned that he was family, or that Yoko adopted the rest of you, or even that she’d gotten married.”
Cousin Miki squealed again, seeming trying her best not to tackle-hug the boys again. “C’mon, we’ve got breakfast ready for you! Sit, sit! It’s time to eat!”

Manga the Week of 6/17/20
Manga the Week of 6/17/20
SEAN: It’s mid-June. Is it hot where you are? It’s certainly hot where I am. Have some manga.
We start with light novels, though, as J-Novel Club has a debut. Wild Times with a Fake Fake Princess is another series by Ichiro Sakaki, author of Outbreak Company. The description makes it sound like “straight man surrounded by wacky people and situations”. Think broad comedy. It’s 3 volumes…

Team Rocket, Way Forward
OK, so I’ve been doing some reading on Bulbagarden and there is a lot to unpack here… First of all, people seem to be against Team Rocket’s vending machine… and even if they don’t dislike it they’re like… not really excited and already afraid they didn’t get their own Pokemon? AFRAID of a silly vending machine? Because it’s something different and they’re allowed to get some firepower from the boss? Why am I not surprised…
But the more interesting thing is that I stumbled upon Dogasu’s full translations of recent interviews with VAs. There is a lot of talk about old times and what they would like to see, with some VERY GENERAL hype about Team Rocket in their classic roles. Like, sure, they are happy and they want fans to be happy because there will be some crossdressing, electric shocks and so on. Apparently everything is alright with the world, right? Except there are some very interesting parts here… I’m going to take it all with a grain of salt - Team Rocket’s VA don’t know the full extent of the series, naturally, and they outright confirmed this in the interview, wondering what could be possible and stating they are still in the early stages of production – but some of those things really stand out to me.
The Rocket-Dan is going to work to fulfill their mission, same as always, but they'll have more direct contact with Mr. Sakaki this time around, maybe...?
Sounds like they aren’t completely sure but… why “maybe”? What makes it different than Sun and Moon? Are we going to see Sakaki MORE times than 2 in the span of 20-40 episodes? Direct contact sounds interesting...
There are times when we'll work odd jobs, or get our hair caught on fire, or get shocked all over, or even make Nyarth up to be a Kimawari, all just to get that Pikachu!
You'll be able to see a Rocket-Dan who sometimes swaps genders when we go into disguise, as well as a Rocket-Dan who says some interesting things every now and then.
This is the part that was being shared online and it is read as a promise of this new Team Rocket being “your usual standard Team Rocket.” However, some of it appears two times, in different interviews, and I’m not sure what the original context was - how much of this is a “YES, this is everything we’ve been recording lately” and how much is a general “because that’s what we always do!”
On the surface, everything is alright with the world… except it’s not? Because here is the TITLE of that next interview:
“Please give the Rocket-Dan more to do!” An interview with the voice actors Megumi Hayashibara, Shin-ichiro Miki, and Inuko Inuyama of the Rocket trio, who have been confirmed to be in the new “Pocket Monsters” series as well.
And some more of the “negative” stuff:
Anyway, please support the Rocket-Dan. We're still in the early stages of recording (for the new series) but so far we haven't appeared all that much... That's why we hope you'll let the staff know that you want them to “put the Rocket-Dan in more episodes!” We're counting on you
Every now and then the staff will be like “we can't rely on the Rocket-Dan too much.” But, like...why not? Keep on relying on us!! (laughs)
Yes, relying on Team Rocket would be cool but whenever the writers of the show are open to discussion... I can imagine it goes like this: “Plot? No, we mean give us more screen time! So we can do silly stuff and drive the non-plot of all filler episodes because that’s what the entire adventure is about.” I mean, I don’t know, but I wouldn’t be surprised.
I think they’ve complained about the total score of their appearances in Sun and Moon as well, as were some of the fans, even though SM TR is essentialy a classic, formula TR with minor tweaks (Bewear, Malasada).
Last but not least, I LOVE, absolutely LOVE Team Rocket’s original Voice Actors and I cannot imagine Team Rocket voiced by different people. But there is something totally wrong in their approach...
Hayashibara:  I was reminded yet again (during Sun and Moon) how even if the show itself changes the Rocket-Dan will be the same as always (laughs). The show could be set in, I dunno, outer space or somewhere like that. Or some secret underground organization could pop up. And through all that I think the roles of the Rocket trio wouldn't ever change.
Inuyama:  I hope it's like that from here on out as well.
Which means chasing after Pikachu, being blasted-off (alternative: carried away by Kiteruguma), doing part time jobs, stealing some random Pokemon, doing occasional badass stuff (for example: go serious mode and help to defeat those bad guys in one episode... or master Z Moves, in Sun and Moon). But god forbid there is anything new, intensive or anything more.
Hayashibara: They did change that one time but then they reverted back to their old selves. They were super serious for a little while there.
Miki: But we went back to form real quick (laughs). Have we changed any, other than that...? We haven't even changed where we sit inside the recording booth after all these years.
Those people, even though PERFECT in the roles of their characters (no matter the circumstances!) are the epitome of NON-CHANGE. This is the anomaly I’ve been talking about ever since the end of Best Wishes, something that even Sun and Moon Team Rocket couldn’t escape from – the show itself changes and grows in new ways. But Team Rocket does not and for the most part - they don’t get to be a part of this change. I’m not saying “they are boring, make them super serious again!.” I’m just saying… let them grow and change and adapt. And maybe, if the situation calls for it, let them be serious and active in the plots at times. Unfortunately, that’s not something Team Rocket’s VAs raise their concerns about in the studio... I assume. They only care about NUMBER of apperances because that translates into their own time in the studio and, by extension, time they spend in the roles. And I’m sure they’re having lots of fun, that is no mystery. But they don’t like to voice serious plot parts I assume and they’re going to be against those, especially that a bit “more serious plot” for Rockets will always remind them of Best Wishes’ run.
However, number of episodes they appear in isn’t a sign of quality and those are the same people who weren’t completely satisfied even with Sun and Moon (due to lower count of overall appearances, same as Dogasu). That is nothing new but nice to reflect on it. Then... any sign of worry coming from them… seems like a positive, I guess? Maybe lower number of appearances means better utilization of characters in the plots, just like Best Wishes and - to an extent - Sun and Moon. But we shall see...

Shall We Date?: Lost Island- Telling Him You’re Pregnant
Ryo Tsuzaki
The two of you were engaged, and you were simply stood in your bathroom waiting for the results of the home pregnancy test, you two hadn’t been trying for a baby, and you weren’t sure how he would really feel about it, you weren’t married yet, but you both lived together.
You had learned on the Island that he was willing to protect you no matter, he showed you that more than once, you smiled slightly, but still how could you tell him? And what if he didn’t even want this child? He’d never said anything about children but then again he was more of an action man anyway, and he had proved that, the ways that he had protected you proved that he cared about you, but would he care about the child as well.
He had said before that you didn’t even know how much he cared about you, but what if he was lying what if this connection you thought you had wasn’t as deep as you thought.
Thoughts like these racing around your mind as you picked up your test, there it was, you were pregnant, you and Ryo were going to have a mini one of you, but you hadn’t even started planning your wedding, he’s only met your parents once, how was this meant to go? You found yourself hyperventilating, on the verge of tears in the bathroom as you stared down at the test, you knew you were going to have to tell him, maybe it could wait? Did he really need to know right away or maybe you should tell him right away, maybe that was the way to go.
You walked out of the bathroom and sat down on the sofa, and picked up your phone, you’d got it! You knew how you were going to tell him, it wasn’t the most mature way but it calmed your nerves, grabbing a hold of the pregnancy test in one hand and your phone in the other hand, sighing you took a picture of the test, and then attached the caption, ‘You’re going to be a Dad! See you later Ryo! Love you!í, you made it seem like you were excited and before you could even think about it even more thoroughly you had pressed the send button, and now when he read that, he would know, it wasn’t a romantic way to tell him, but you were confident doing it that way and that’s what mattered, or at least you were more confident doing it that way.
You had been sat down on your sofa for maybe a good half an hour, just thinking about things, you had music playing on the radio, just sat staring off into space, you were so zoned out you didn’t even hear the door to your apartment open, and before you even had the chance to realise you were lifted up and swung around, lips placed upon yours, a familiar scent surrounding you. You kissed him back.
“Weíre going to have our own little family” He announced breathlessly as he pulled back and you grabbed his hand placing it on your stomach, as you looked at him you didn’t know how you could have ever doubted his reaction, and you started crying, feeling a little guilty about doubting Ryo now,
“No! What’s wrong _______?” He asked, brushing your tears away, he didn’t know how to react, he wasn’t good with his words, so he just stood there, holding you, brushing away your tears.
“I was so worried about your reaction Ryo, and how could I have doubted that you’d be happy, I’m sorry Ryo” You sobbed out breathlessly, but he stood comforting you, rubbing circles on our back, and then placed a kiss on your forehead as the tears stopped.
“I’ll always protect you, now I’ve also got to protect our child, what more could I ask for?î He asked, as he held you close, calming you with those simple words.
 Ren Nishimura
Ren and you had spoken about having children, you were a married couple, both with successful enough jobs, and so it seemed as though the next logical step was to have children, and when you started vomiting in the morning, you knew that the best idea was to book a doctor's appointment.
Before that though, you knew you wanted Ren there when you find out whether or not you are getting your own little family so you just had to tell him, ask him to accompany you.
"Ren?" You asked as you were cuddled into his chest one night, the lights were out, and he was running his hand through your hair, so you couldn't see his face, but then you felt his chest vibrate slightly as he 'hmm'd'.
"Would you mind coming to the hospital with me?" You asked him, and you felt his body underneath you tense and his heart rate pick up, you knew that you had panicked him with his statement, but you also knew that momentarily he would be just as excited as you are.
"What's wrong? Are you sick?" He asked, and though you couldn't see his face you could detect the underlying panic to his voice, and you felt slightly guilty for making him panic about your health when all it was is that you may be pregnant.
"I think, I might be pregnant Ren, and I don't want to go alone" You muttered before planting a kiss on his collarbone and smiling slightly. He just held you silently, and nodded into your shoulder, both of you were softly smiling.
It was the very day of your appointment, you had eagerly been waiting, barely able to sleep. You didn't know how you finally fell asleep but when you woke up, Ren was waiting for you to awake, holding a cup of tea in his hands. You took the tea and smiled up at him, fully ready to go and find out if you and Ren were finally able to start your own family. A Happily married family, the two of you, well, it would be perfect with a little you or Ren running around your feet, you didn't mind having to wake up early, you didn't mind the late nights, you didn't mind any of that, you were more than a little excited!
You arrived at the doctor's office and were quickly called in, you couldn't wait for him to tell you whether or not you were pregnant, and sat excitedly talking too fast and laughing along with the doctor as Ren sat silently.
"Well, Mrs Nishimura" The doctor announced and you glanced with weary eyes, grabbing hold of Ren's hand, now worrying that you may in fact not be pregnant, and that worried you more than the idea you might be pregnant, you wanted this more than anything, you were so excited.
"Well, is she pregnant?" Ren asked for you with a soft smile, he wanted to know as much as you, and since you were shaking he grabbed a hold of your hand and intertwined your fingers with him, both of you were excited, the both of you wanted this to be true.
"Yes, she is" The doctor commented, and watched as tears spilled down your cheeks.
"I'll give you a moment"  He commented, and you just continued to cry lightly into Ren, so happy as the Doctor excused himself.
"I can't wait Ren" You muttered out in between sobs, and most would've found it unbelievable that you would act this way, but as Ren held you closed you knew that you were more than a little happy.
Lionel Saito
Lionel, the man who still walked around with his guns when he felt overprotective of you, how would he really feel about a child, would he be just as overprotective, that would be sweet and you could feel yourself swoon at the idea that he would still love you and that he would protect you and protect your child with his life, he was such a good guy how could he not want to protect the two of you, there was only a small chance that he wouldn't still love you, a very small chance, right?
You glanced down at the results on the paper, you didn't know how to feel about it now, would he really protect the two of you?
You laid down on your bed and looked up at the ceiling, just thinking about everything that could lay in front of you, just every single moment, maybe he would fall even more in love with you or maybe he would simply leave you alone, could you even raise a child alone, you didn't even want to tell him anymore, it just seemed like a bad idea, telling him he was going to be a father, because there was always that chance that he would leave you.
You didn't realise but you slowly started to feel more and more tired, and as your sobs died down, your eyes closed, and you sank into a deep sleep. Holding on to your painful thoughts that he would no longer love you and at the same time with thoughts of him protecting you and protecting your child, with how much you think that he loves you. You had to hold on to those thoughts and try and put them into the front of your mind.
Lionel walked through the door expecting you to be making dinner, or sat watching television the things that you were normally doing, upon not seeing you and receiving no answer when he called out he decided that he should look for you, but with worry filling his mind, what if someone had taken you? What if someone was hurting you? But the one that hurt him most was the idea that you had simply decided to leave him. The idea that you could have simply walked out panicked him and he started hunting like a mad man before finally arriving at your room.
Upon arriving at your room, he slowly opened the door, and found your form laying on the bed, facing away from him, although he was tempted to call out, he simply left you like that as he strolled over. He looked at you and noticed the puffy eyes and the stains on your cheeks. He noticed the papers that lay next to you and perching himself on the bed he slowly and carefully pulled the papers from your hands, causing you to shift slightly but as he watched he noticed that you still didn't wake up.
He looked down at the papers, and began flicking through them, allowing his eyes to scan over what was typed up, he just wanted to know what they were about and as he scanned through them he finally came to what he believed must have made you this way.
You were pregnant with his child.
He smiled slightly, running a hand over your cheek, he could wake you up now, he could talk to you and tell you how much he loves you or he could do something that he found easier, he could show you how he felt, and so he placed the papers on the side and lay himself down next to you, wrapping his arms around you. He would have to tell you he couldn't wait for when both of you wake up because for now, he just wanted to hold the woman that he loved.
The woman that was pregnant with his child.
Ichiro Sakaki
You and Ichiro had been engaged since your parents had held that marriage meeting with Ichiro, well not officially engaged, but the two of you knew that you wanted to stay together for as long as possible. You waited for the pregnancy test to beep, to tell you whether or not you were pregnant, not that it would be a bad thing for your relationship, you knew that Ichiro would be just as happy as you would.
It's not like the two of you were children, and couldn't deal with this, you have steady careers, you work hard, and this would just take your relationship a step further. And imagining a little Ichiro running around sent your heart aflutter, you couldn't think of anything better, you smiled brightly as you sat on the side in the bathroom just waiting. Or even a little you, but you couldn't help but prefer the idea of a mini him.
You heard the beep and jumped from your place and holding the test tightly in your hands, you found a grin pulling on your lips, you couldn't believe it, you were going to have a child, you moved and placed a hand on your stomach as you looked at yourself in the mirror, you were going to have to be really careful, he was so cute, and my god! You couldn't wait, you were jumping up and down, or at least mentally, and thinking about all the ways that you could tell Ichiro.
You had finally decided how you were going to tell him, and a couple of days later you went out shopping and looked around for something that could be considered the perfect way. The first thing that you bought a simple green box, then you bought a t-shirt, the perfect little shirt, and then you found something that was just perfect. Finally, you bought yourself a little ribbon to tie the box with, and you knew that you were telling Ichiro in the perfect manner, you even had the doctors papers from when you went to check a couple of days ago, this was it! This was going to be perfect.
You were sat on the bed finishing wrapping your little gift for Ichiro when you heard the door to your apartment open, and heard him call out to you,
"_______!" You smiled to yourself and debated waiting to give him his gift, but you couldn't bring yourself to do it, you were way too excited he had to have his gift as soon as possible,
"In our room" You called out to him, as you turned to face the door, placing the gift on the bed in front of you. Patiently you waited and slowly you felt yourself get more and more nervous as you could hear his footsteps approach and almost called the whole thing off but before you had been given enough time to second guess yourself Ichiro had opened the door and was stood in front of you.
"What's this?" He asked as he entered the room, signaling to the gift that lay directly in front of you, you just couldn't believe it as he approached you and sat in front of you and the gift on the bed you mindlessly placed a hand on your stomach as your heart stopped, had you really been correct in your approach to this.
"It's a gift for you" You muttered out, as you pushed the present closer to him, proud of yourself for even being able to get the words out in between your nerves, he grinned,
"Is it candy?" He asked with a childish gleam to his eyes, but you looked at him and you knew that it was an attempt to try and calm your nerves, you giggled and pushed the gift even closer towards him, in your sudden laughter and excitement you found yourself calmer.
With the hand still against your stomach you watched as he opened the gift, you smiled at the confused look on his face, the first thing that he pulled out was a small, baby-sized t-shirt with the words 'Daddy’s little scientist', it had been perfect when you saw it, but then he moved his hands and pulled out something you had seen and just had to buy, a lab coat for a baby, how could you not have bought it, the look of confusion was almost the exact same. Then he finally had gotten to your papers, and as he pulled them out before he had even read them, he had knocked everything and lifted you up off of the bed.
You found yourself being picked up and his lips onto yours, you grinned and kissed him back, you were so happy that he was reacting like this, he was just as happy as you, as he put you back down on the bed, he kneeled down in front of you and placed his hands on your knees, you smiled softly at him, as you looked at his own grinning face.
"So we're having a little you"
"Or a little you" You rebutted, but he was too happy and he simply placed the hand onto your stomach over your own, and smiled softly at your stomach before pulling your own hand off of your stomach and moved it to his lips, kissing your hand. Then he did something that made you giggle, with his own hand against your stomach he spoke to your stomach,
"I'll love you and your mommy so much" He commented and you giggled as he carried on,
"I'll make sure everything is more than perfect for the both of you, and you won't have to worry about anything, I'll protect you more than anyone ever could, don't you worry, either of you" He said looking up and you, and leaning up and placing his lips on your again.
And you knew that he was telling the truth.
Shota Todomi
You didn’t think that you and Shota were ready for this; this had to be some sort of a mistake. He was still in university, you weren’t married, you didn’t even live together yet, and what would the other people on the island think of that, think of you, Now not only were you the older woman but you were the older, pregnant woman. You could feel tears welling up in your eyes as you looked down at the test; the worst part was you knew you didn’t want to leave him with this responsibility, he’s got his whole life ahead of him, and you could ruin that.
You reacted drastically, you did what you thought was right, since you were mainland working in a lab, and he was on the island, you simply stopped answering to him, his texts, his calls, his emails, they turned into pleas over the weeks, you couldn’t bear reading the texts and emails anymore, and his tearful voice, the pain it held over voicemail, brought you to tears, so you let your phone flat line, and stopped opening the emails.
It hurt you, but you couldn’t ruin his life.
You were three months pregnant, and coming back from a busy day at the lab, it was ten to eleven, and you stepped out of the cab, paying the driver, and walking towards your apartment building, your eyes widened slightly at the sight of a blonde figure on the floor, sat down in the corner of the entrance, you didn’t really know what to do, so you just approached slowly and the figure became more and more apparent.
Shota was sat in your apartment entrance, he was asleep, there was holding half a dozen red roses, he looked so tired, with those red eyes, you moved and kneeled down by him, you knew you could sneak past him, but he had come from the island to see you because you’d been ignoring him, he was obviously worried about you. Placing a hand on his arm you gently shook him awake and watched as he groggily opened his eyes.
“________, I’ve missed you so much” He muttered as he pulled you into his arms, but you gently pushed him back and carefully stood up, you knew he would be able to see that you were pregnant, but he didn’t comment on it, as he stood up, shoving the roses into your arms,
“How about some tea?” You asked as you gestured to the entrance to the apartment building, and he just nodded his head, you didn’t know if he had noticed or not now, but he was stood there, looking tired, and blushing.
“Please” He stated as he followed you up to your apartment.
He had only been to your apartment once before, and that was near the beginning of your relationship, otherwise, you had gone to see him on the island instead when you had time off. He walked in and you pointed him to the sofa before walking into the kitchen and starting on the tea.
After finishing the tea you walked into the living room and saw Shota sat there, almost crying, holding your scan picture in his hands, you froze, dropping the cups to the floor, they smashed. You didn’t know what you could really say to him, and both of you were there in complete silence as you just looked at him and him at the scan.
“This is why?” He asked, his words breaking as he attempted to withhold his sobs,
“I’m sorry Shota” You muttered, that’s all you could say, you hadn’t wanted him to find out because it would ruin his life and here he was, instead of protecting him you’d hurt him even more,
“I thought you had fallen in love with someone else, I thought I had lost you, or that you were in danger, but you were avoiding me” He announced, and you could see that he was starting to cry, and carefully made your way across the shards and over to him,
“Shota, no, I just-, we’re not ready for this, and I didn’t want to shove this pressure onto you, that’s it” He brushed your hand away from him, and you found yourself teary-eyed,
“I want to help, I want to protect you; I thought you saw me as an adult”
“Shota I do, but this, this is big, I don’t even know if I’m ready for this, of course, I see you as an adult” You tried, reaching a hand out to place on his cheek,
“I've missed you so much, you stopped contacting me for this” He pointed down at the scan picture, and you felt tears coming out of your own eyes now, this had hurt the two of you,
“I’m sorry Shota, I’m pregnant, there, I said it, I didn’t think we were ready, I’m sorry”
“Then now I know, let me look after the two of you, come back to the island and let me protect you”
“Shota-“
“I love you (Y/N), let me protect our family” He announced placing a hand on your slightly protruding stomach and placed a kiss on your forehead, before pulling you closer to him, holding you against him, the warmth you had missed so much.
 Kaes
He wasn't someone that you wanted to tell that you were pregnant and so when you saw him you avoided the topic and acted normally, you even allowed it to escape your own mind at times when you were away from him. You couldn't allow him to find out, you didn't like even thinking about the way that he might react.
You knew you were working too hard for a pregnant woman but there was a real reason you didn't want to tell him a few months ago you had brought up the idea of children and he had brushed you aside he made it seem like it was the worst idea ever, and so you knew that you couldn't tell him, you should have been more careful, you should have tried harder to avoid getting pregnant but now you were. You couldn't do this.
You were really dizzy, you felt like you could pass out any minute, but now, what were you meant to do, you try and leave he would find out that you were pregnant or at the very least that there was something wrong with you, as you knelt on the floor, sipping from a bottle of water you saw one of your colleagues approach you.
"Are you alright (Y/N)?” He asked in a soft voice as he kneeled down in front of you and took in your own appearance with a soft smile, your hand was resting your stomach as you sipped from the bottle like your life depended on it, you moved and got up in an attempt to not panic him, but lost your balance due to already being dizzy and placed your hand on the wall next to you
"I'm sorry I'll be fine" You commented not noticing that your hand was still resting on your stomach as you felt like you were about to faint, but you knew that you were going to have to try and soldier onwards,
"Are you, do you need me to get Kaes?" He asked as he turned around and tried to walk away to go and get Kaes but you moved and tried to grab a hold of his arm, but found yourself heading towards the ground with heavy eyes,
“(Y/N)!(Y/N)!(Y/N)!” He cried out as you fell to the floor
"Don't Don't-" You commented as you felt your world go black, your mind filled with panic as you lost consciousness.
You woke up groggily in a white room, and as you tried to sit up, you were grabbed and slowly stopped,
"Just relax" You could easily recognise the voice, it was Kaes the one person you hadn't wanted to see you in this state and yet here he was, watching you as you slept,
"Seems you have something to tell me though" He commented and his face came into view, you could see that he looked hurt, and as though you had let him down,
"I'm sorry" You muttered under your breath as you turned to face away from him, but he placed a hand on your cheek and forced you to turn your head to look at him directly,
"Why didn't you just tell me? We could have lessened your work load, what if you had hurt the baby?" He asked, and he sounded genuinely worried, this shocked you, and you knew that it was clear on your face, but his words, you knew that you should have told him but you were,
"I was too scared" You muttered again, and he moved his hand allowing you to look away from him,
"It pains me that you are scared of me" He mutters and it hurts you and so you sit yourself up and you force him this time to look at you,
"You made it seem like you didn't want children" You commented you weren’t ready to fully take the blame for this, he had done this as well, it was still partially his fault that you felt this way, that you had been scared,
"I just wanted to wait a while" He stated but he hadn't made it seem that way, but you moved and placed your lips on his cheek.
You knew what you needed to work on, you needed to work on your communication with him, and that was going to take time and hard work, but now, together you were going to be having this child, and you were going to be happy together even if it took some work.

Outbreak Company, Vol. 17
By Ichiro Sakaki and Yuugen. Released in Japan by Kodansha Light Novels. Released in North America by J-Novel Club. Translated by Kevin Steinbach.
One thing that has always remained reliably on brand about this series is how all in it goes on its otaku evangelism. The author is clearly just as bad if not worse than his lead character, and it shows, as the books are littered with references to anime, manga, books, films, games, etc. And what’s more, this is shown in a (mostly) very positive light, with people who would otherwise be indifferent to if not hate each other bonding over their shared obsessions. This particular volume seems to really lay the references on thick – it trusts that readers will not only know what Area 88 is, but also buy into the extended Star Wars riff that comes at the climax of the book. It even affects the plot, as the Americans who show up in Eldant towards the end are somewhat stunned to see the princess swearing at them, as she’s quoting the cliched stock American from Japanese media. That said, the guys who show up in Eldant very much DO feel like stock characters – Outbreak Company is not only a huge fan of cliches, it’s also a client.
We pick up where the last book left off, after a brief prologue from the POV of Shinichi’s family showing how things are going back in Japan. Not well. The hyperspace tunnel is starting to really go to pieces, which is leading to lots of natural disasters. As such, Japan has decided to punt, and tells Shinichi and company they’re pulling out of Eldant in five days. Needless to say, the cast are varying levels of upset by this – Minori is pretty cool with just going back, Hikaru suddenly realizes his own feelings for someone else in the cast, and of course Shinichi is still waffling about what love really is and if he’s in it with anyone. If he stays behind, lacking any ability to either import or create anime and manga, isn’t he just useless? If he takes a girl back with him to Japan, won’t they just be captured and experimented on? And then suddenly the USS Nimitz appears on top of a forest in rival nation Bahairam, and everything gets blown to hell.
As is typical of this series, Shinichi can be thick or clever when the situation demands it, as with his being unable to understand why Petralka seems to be OK with him leaving forever, missing the subtleties of her response as well as her own true feelings. We’ve still got one volume to go, and it’s possible that he won’t pick anyone, but I’d still lay odds on Myusel, who also has a bit of a love revelation in this book. As for the subplot, it’s basically pure action movie – the book makes many references to the 1980 movie The Final Countdown, as our heroes have to infiltrate Bahairam – again – and try to stop the war breaking out between their country, already upset about losing the Dragons Den, and some very jumpy naval officers. Can Shinichi talk everyone down? Can they figure out how to return a battle carrier to its proper place in the world? And can we actually get anyone to confess their love at all without being under the influence?
The next volume is the last, though there’s also a short story collection that I’m not sure is licensed. Fans of the series should enjoy it, though I suspect, like me, they’re happy it’s finally drawing to a close.
